Boston-born JOHN JOSEPH WILLIAMS (b. 27 April 1822, d. 30 August 1907) became the fourth Bishop of Boston in 1866. When the diocese was elevated to archdiocese in 1875, he became Boston’s first Archbishop.
The connection between Marie Guertin Sicotte and Archbishop Williams is certainly not a familial one. Is his photo in her album because they knew each other? (She was the wife of one of the founders of St. Joseph’s, Waltham’s French church.) Is he among the friends that presented her the album?
